Evening Telegraph Peterborough Article - 11 June 2010 11th June 2010

The following article appeared in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph:

Established in 1997 in St Ives Cambridgeshire, Meyer-Scott opened its 2nd branch in Wentworth Street on 16th June 2008.

Unlike a large ‘national’ agency Meyer-Scott, which is managed day-to-day by two controlling Partners, is able to offer tailored solutions to meet the needs of both the client and candidate as opposed to off the shelf compromises!

The Peterborough branch specialises in Engineering, Finance and Office Support
opportunities. According to Yvette Scott (one of the Partners) ‘the Peterborough jobs market is loosening up with many companies feeling a little more confident about taking on staff’. It is therefore important for those seeking a new position to prepare well for all interviews as competition remains fierce. Here are a few tips:

Research the company beforehand this will boost your credibility with the interviewer - why should they employ someone who hasn’t taken the time to find out anything about them?

Find out where the office is and how to get there. Do you know how long the trip will take? Do you know how easy it is to park? Reduce your stress levels by figuring all this out before heading to the interview.

Look the part. Whilst it is a good idea to inject your personality into your look it’s difficult to know the culture of the environment beforehand so err on the side of conservative.

Rehearse beforehand. Prior to your interview, think of answers to likely questions such as 'What are your strengths and weaknesses? And why should we offer you the job?

Arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand and report in accordance with your instructions. Smile at everyone - you knows who has influence!

Turn off your mobile phone.

Bring necessary documentation. Probably not a bad idea to bring extra copies of Curriculum Vitae, passport and any portfolio of work you might deem necessary. Always bring a notepad and pen so you can make notes.
