This is a fantastic opportunity to join the production team of an award-winning company and be responsible for ensuring that all elements of the health and safety management system are being implemented. As a key member of the production team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day requirements derived from policies and procedures.
Duties • Ensuring all activities on site have been subject to risk assessment and that all operatives have received training on the assessments • New staff are inducted; issue and manage all PPE, lockers, tools etc • Visitors are inducted to site and briefed before they move around site • Contractors are inducted; checking contractors RAMS; monitoring the activities of contractors on site; issuing and monitoring Permits to Work • Maintaining the Approved Contractors Register including approving new contractors • Ensuring that all equipment is subject to statutory inspections such as LOLER, PUWER etc • Ensure that all chemicals on site are added to the hazardous substances database • Carry out routine checks of the fire safety systems including weekly alarm checks, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, notices and exit routes • Organise fire drills and monitor standards • Organise third party training for staff on fork trucks, cherry pickers etc • Maintain the H&S training records and organise refreshers • Maintain the first aid kits, eye-wash stations etc • Ensure that the daily, weekly, monthly etc health and safety inspections are completed • Register and record accidents and incidents and assist in investigations • Assist in the development of health and safety policies and procedures • Deliver training – mainly on policies and procedures but may include manual handling etc in the future • Monitor KPIs and maintain reporting procedures • Attend health and safety meetings and other meetings where H&S is discussed • Assist the Quality and Sustainability Systems Coordinator as required
Experience and Qualities Required • At least two years experience in a relevant health and safety position • Minimum Nebosh Certificate or equivalent (NVQ level 4) • A good understanding of fire safety risks and management • An exceptional eye for detail • Methodical and self-disciplined
