Our client has received goods from China which need re-working. The role is suited to someone who is semi-skilled, has worked with mechanical/ metal work before
This role is about the following:
• Inspect Metal work quality of parts delivered to the client.
• Record findings of non-compliance, tracing serial numbers to a shared smart sheet,
• Photograph non-compliance and upload to smartsheet, so reporting back to the client.
• They will deal internally with other members of the supplier quality team and report into the Operations Quality Manager
• External customer will be the supplier in China and of course your colleagues. The work is repetitive, involves wrapping and unwrapping of large cabinets (twice the size of a microwave) so no fiddly small bits. They are empty and are the printer shells
• The role is based in Bar Hill although may require occasional travel to our off site warehouse in Ely. Although we have pool cars available, own transport may be necessary if these are unavailable
• We need someone with high attention to detail as the majority of the role is around visual inspection with regards to quality issues (issues include; scratches, panels on upside down, glue, dents)
• Reporting inspection activities, verifying quality requirements are met on metal work parts supplied from the client. This is a hands on role, including lifting, visual inspection and some measurement work where compliance to specifications is needed (basic attribute gauges).
• Recording non-compliances via a shared spreadsheet system called smartsheet, uploading photos of the issues found.
• Identification and segregation of problems found, ensuring the good and bad parts are clearly identified.
• Ensuring all stock, be it good, bad or indifferent are protected from damage during inspection activities
• Ensuring all stock, is protected from damage after inspection, to ensure safety during movement and re-stocking.
• Any other reasonable requests made by the SQD / SQA or management within the department.
• Good eye sight is clearly essential in this role.
• Experience in inspection activities within an Engineering metal work environment,
• Computer literacy in windows applications, particularly Excel
• Skilled in ERP system Oracle,
The Hours of work It is a full time temporary role for up to 2 months – 8:30am-5:00pm Mon – Thurs, 8:30am – 4:30pm on a Friday

Inspection work in a similar environment
