Our clients are a key player in shop fitting in the UK.

They have a broad portfolio of clients and projects across the retail sector and are trusted to deliver for their clients time and time again. With a portfolio of work that spans food retail, high-street bank branches, fashion boutiques, and luxury stores and shopping centers, they deliver fast-track programme to meet client demands with an increasingly competitive market.

Your role will be to

assume accountability for all aspects of surveying and commercial functions on allocated projects delivering project goals in line with Company and customer expectations, and to support the development of repeat business.

This position whilst based in Huntingdon will require you to travel various regions of the UK.

Would ideally suit a graduate with a couple of years’ experience.


Winning Work
• To support the project team in providing monthly reports to the Customer.
• To develop and maintain close relationships with customers, consultants and subcontractors. To ensure all bidding and tender processes are applied during relevant stages of pre-development and that correct forms are completed and issued.
• To provide effective commercial and contractual input to bid, negotiation and pre-development processes and monitor the setting up of new projects, obtaining appropriate approvals and ensuring that pre-contract spend is not exceeded.

Project Delivery
• To engage with the wider project team to ensure consistent delivery of successful projects in order to support the achievement of Company objectives.
• To undertake regular site visits and assist the project team in preparing comprehensive reports for internal monthly project reviews to demonstrate project and team performance.
• To manage project set up and ensure any pre-contract expenditure does not exceed any authority limit, such as the customer letter of instruction.
• To support the Project Manager to ensure all significant project issues and correspondence and all necessary contractual processes have been observed and acted upon to protect the Company's position.
• To liaise with site management to maximise value recovery and minimise costs.
• To manage cost expenditure in close association with the site team.
• To work closely with the project team to ensure sub-contractor works are completed in accordance with the contract.

Commercial
• To assist senior management in the protection of the Company's contractual position.
• To maintain the cash forecasting system on an accurate and timely basis.
• To manage all cost control aspects of the project(s), ensuring the use of appropriate cost, reporting and storage systems including E1, Priority 1, PCS and Fusion.
• To maximise value recovery, cost control and cash management.
• To produce and agree final accounts.
• To ensure cash is maximised within the team and on projects, without compromising our contractual arrangements and relationships with customers, subcontractors or suppliers.
• To ensure the prompt agreement of final accounts and receipt of retention payments.
• To manage old final account, retention and debt issues to successful resolution.
• To provide lead on financial and commercial advice.
• To understand the Company's obligations under the contract.
• To appraise current project performance to identify potential risks escalating where appropriate.
• To implement value and cash strategy in accordance with company procedures, prepare valuations in accordance with the contract conditions, aiming where practical for a cash positive position on all contracts.

People
• To assist with the development of the Assistant Commercial Managers.
• To manage the communication of all necessary information.

HSQE
• To ensure our HSQE and quality standards, operating processes, company policies, ISO accreditations and all legislative requirements are understood, implemented and adhered to throughout the team at all times.

Supply Chain
• To ensure the use of Company preferred subcontractors and suppliers to improve HS&E and project delivery standards and to achieve cost savings and rebate recovery.
• To ensure the early involvement of appropriate subcontractors in the project planning process.
• To ensure that all subcontract orders/warranties and professional appointments are placed in line with the contract and programme.
• To support the group buying deals by ensuring they are communicated to suppliers at tender stage and applied at order stage.
• Commercial control of subcontract packages.
• To ensure payments and notices are issued to subcontractors in line with Company policy/subcontract terms.
• To provide key relationship management to those preferred subcontractors that may have been personally allocated, including collating company feedback and holding regular review meetings.
• To comply with Doc Hosting approval process.


Key Tasks

• In conjunction with the project team manage the project status report / CVR, to ensure project values, costs and margins are accurately reported and changes agreed.
• Liaise with site management and administer project ‘Request for Information’ schedules.
• Keep adequate site records to enable the production of the final account and in order to safeguard the Company's contractual position.
• Prepare budget CVR for bid settlement meeting (where estimated by the Commercial Manager)
• Prepare budget CVR for project launch meeting (where estimated by the Estimating Team)
• Pass details of any required Bonds, PCG and Warranties to DCD for review.
• Price allocated projects ensuring sufficient management time recovery and benchmark GM are recovered.
• Prepare team financial reports and forecasts for monthly review meetings.
• Prepare budget and CVR information when requested to do so by senior management.
• Administer project variation system and incorporate into rolling final account summary and advise customer team on a pre-agreed timeframe.
• Production of final accounts.
• Assist senior commercial management in the preparation of loss and expense claims.
• Produce detailed risk register for all live projects clearly detailing ownership and financial impact.
• Ensure CVRs are produced by the stipulated time.
• Prepare a Cash flow forecast on the standard template following project allocation and regularly update through project lifecycle.
• Production of project final account and associated CVR for final account review meeting.
• Escalate any matter materially affecting the EOD GM position to DCD immediately.
• Ensure key contract certificates are obtained in due time.
• Administer document control system on site including distribution of information to consultants and subcontractors.
• Place subcontracts utilising the standard particulars, terms and conditions and e-vision platform in due time and in a way which protects the Company's contractual position and financial aspirations.
• Ensure payments and notices are issued to subcontractors in line with Company policy/subcontract terms.
• Prepare a project procurement schedule identifying all required trades, sub-contractors and lead in periods.
• Measure and value the works for both external valuations and to calculate payments due to subcontractors.
• Give support to the PDR process and take collective responsibility to follow up actions.
• Any other duties which are reasonable.


Essential Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years’ previous experience in fit out contracting including retail
• Able to demonstrate the ability/desire to work on fast track projects
• Degree educated preferable (Qualification in Quantity Surveying)
• Must be able to travel nationally throughout the UK
