Hours: Monday to Thursday 09.00 - 17.00, 09.00 - 16.30 Friday
Purpose of Post:
To provide administrative support to the Benefits Section and be the main point of telephone contact for all benefit customers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Respond to telephone enquiries from customers, including claimants, landlords, other local authorities, advice agencies and departments, using current benefit and associated legislation. • Collate, scan and index information, including correspondence from customers and data from the Department for Work and Pensions, accurately into the electronic document management system. • Interrogate computer systems, including the Benefits and Department for Work and Pensions databases, to retrieve information to deal with enquiries. • To assist benefit customers in the benefit application process, i.e. on-line claims. • To scrutinize and dispatch benefit decision letters and assist with the dispatch of other general benefit letters.
• To access, interrogate, interpret and collate numerous databases to accurately produce information necessary for the processing of benefit claims. • To process invoices for the Revenues and Customers Service departments accurately and efficiently. • To carry out visits to benefit claimants to help with completion of claim, collection of documentary evidence and verifying the details they have provided to support their application. • Carry out a variety of administrative tasks to ensure that the Section functions efficiently and effectively.
This is a rewarding role that requires the Post Holder to be swithched on, organised and effectively liaise with a wide variety of people who often are not clear with their needs. Accurate administrative skills and strong PC skills are essential. Previous expereince within the Public sector or dealing with Benefit Claimants is a distinct Advantage.
