The role will predominantly involve preparing financial accounts for sole traders, partnership and limited companies, along with corporation and personal tax compliance. There will also be some audit and bookkeeping work, plus the preparation of VAT returns for clients. Some of the duties may be carried out at clients premises so a full clean driving licence will be necessary.
The successful candidate:
• Will have good academic results with a minimum C grade GCSE in Mathematics and English.
• May be part or fully AAT/ICAEW/ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience. You may be looking to continue towards full qualification.
• Will have a high level of IT proficiency and the ability to use various accounting packages, in particular MS Office (Word, Excel) and Sage Line 50. Familiarity with CCH, Quickbooks and Xero software would be useful.
• Will have proven skills in: accounts preparation (including balance sheet reconciliations), statutory and management accounts, production of accounts to trial balance, unincorporated accounts plus Tax. A basic knowledge of bookkeeping is also required. It is essential that these skills have been gained within a UK accountancy practice environment.
• Previous experience of working as part of a larger a team on audit assignments would be an asset.
• Personal and Corporate Tax experience would also be beneficial, as would prior experience in the preparation of VAT returns.
• Will be confident and articulate in dealing with a wide range of clients.
• Possess a thorough attitude with an expert eye for detail, along with the ability to identify and flag up potential issues to more senior staff for attention.
• Will have a full clean UK driving licence and access to own transport, with the willingness to travel to assignments when necessary.
