Category Buyer – 12months Maternity Cover – Peterborough - £25,000 - £28,000 pa
Our client is looking for a Category Buyer for Indirect Procurement commodities; Marketing, Professional Service and Temporary Labour.
Reporting into Corporate Italian Procurement Team, you will be managing all UK procurement activities relating to the three commodities.
This role will enjoy significant exposure to senior / board level stakeholders and as such will have the opportunity to develop technical procurement and wider commercial skills.
This role will play a key part in procurement facilitation with other market buyers, suppliers and best EMEA business practices.
Management of a junior member of the UK procurement team.
• Managing end-to-end strategic sourcing lifecycle & projects, including; Supplier Selection, Negotiation and Contract Management.
• Driving change and continuous improvement in line with EMEA procedure and processes.
• Managing and driving Cost Reduction activities, utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
• Engaging and managing Stakeholder relationships at a senior level.
• Ensure procurement initiatives and strategies are maximised.
• Supplier Performance and Relationship Management.
• Monitoring, managing and mitigating commercial risk within the supply base.
• Working with Key Business Stakeholders to ensure the correct procurement processes are followed.
• Managing Tenders and Key Bids.
• Reporting on Spend V’s Budget (Evidence of negotiated savings)
• People Management.
• Working with Corporate and Global colleagues as part of the GSS global procurement team to ensure we maximise combined turnovers, a select and strong supplier base, and cross-market supply.
Experience / Skills / Qualifications required;
• Procurement Experience required, preferred Indirect.
• Purchasing and/or CIPS Qualification preferred (any level)
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office/SAP/Gmail)
• Strong numerical, verbal and written skills and experience of concise and accurate report writing
• Good communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with High level business associates and suppliers.
• Good negotiation, project management and problem solving skills
• Happy to be responsible for own workload and time management
• Driven and keen to make a difference
• Full driving licence with ability to undertake reasonable travel when required (must have passport).
