Description: | Our St Neots based client supply and manufacture of gas and process control equipment as well as heating, ventilating and air conditioning controls.
A vacancy has arisen for a Technical Buyer. Working in a busy and fast moving environment, you will play a key role in optimizing the supply chain by selecting, contracting and managing the right suppliers for goods and services for the company. You will also play a key role in the day to day purchasing activities, including working with the MRP system. In this role you will be reporting to Senior Buyer and functionally you will report into the VP Sourcing & Logistics EMEA. Youll be working closely with the Senior Buyer and other departments and the EMEA Commodity Managers.
Duties will include:
Work with Engineering, Operations and EMEA Commodity Managers to identify viable world-class suppliers that can deliver appropriate supply solutions. Negotiate price, lead times, quality and establish and manage supply agreements. Track and manage supplier performance and resolve any supplier related issues. Develop Sourcing Cost Reduction Program and Initiatives (build project funnel) in close collaboration with other departments and the EMEA Sourcing & Logistics team. Report periodically on performance of the function and sourcing initiatives. Driving continuous improvement of the sourcing function and processes and contribute to other improvement initiatives where applicable. Maintain a Supplier Risk Management Program to include measurement for capacity, quality and delivery. Perform other purchasing tasks in co-operation with the Senior Buyer. As well as any other reasonable duties that may be asked of you from time to time.
Job requirements and qualifications
Relevant purchasing/sourcing experience: 3-5 years. Education: Bachelor/Master in one or more of the following areas: Sourcing, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Experienced in working with ERP/MRP systems. Hands-on team player with positive, pro-active attitude. Travel requirements: 10-20%
