Description: | Job Purpose:
Provide support to the Purchasing Manager in order to ensure that all orders are processed speedily, effectively and accurately at minimum overhead.
Key responsibilities:
• Type and process customer parts lists onto internal component costing sheets, e-mail/ fax to suppliers for quoting - liaise with suppliers/purchasing, collate quote from suppliers. • Once agreed with Purchasing Manager, place orders with appropriate suppliers to ensure availability of parts and equipment to meet production targets. • Confirm with suppliers receipt of orders and that there are not any delivery problems. Add to progression sheet. Give Stores/Kitting department a copy of the orders along with the Component Costing sheet and Parts List. • Assist Stores/Kitting department in resolving any issues from suppliers on delivery timescales, shortages or supply problems of components. • Monitor the progress of all orders against agreed supply date, revising where necessary and communicating changes to Purchasing Manager. • Maintain accurate records of all orders, component costing sheets and parts lists. • Respond flexibly to any request that may reasonably be made by management. Such requests will be within the competence and/ or scope of the jobholder.
Key requirements
• Electronic component buying experience of 12 months or more. • Good computer and excel skills. • Accuracy and speed. • To work well in a team.
