Front End Web Development – Team Manager - £30,000 - £35,000 pa - Perm

Hours Full Time (9am – 5:30pm) Monday to Friday

What are we looking for?
This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented and ambitious front-end web developer who wants to take the next positive step in their career. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of front-end developers operating in a high-energy environment built on creativity, productivity and accuracy. You will be responsible for ensuring that all projects that come through
your department are completed within the budgeted time, with the care and attention that our clients deserve.
You will also work with the Operations Director to identify any areas of improvement, both in the work that your team is doing and to the underlying CMS/Framework. The input of you and your team will be fundamental to the future developments of our product and ensuring that we always strive to offer the best product possible.
Every design we create is completely bespoke and you will be required to contribute to the process, from discussing ideas with our team, to prototyping and building the websites. You’ll be responsible for turning the client’s vision into reality. You will need to be proficient in modern front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3 and a little JavaScript (jQuery is our framework of choice).
Knowledge of server side coding is a plus but not essential.
In this role you’ll be working on a range of projects, of which cover a huge variety of styles from heavily illustrated designs through to contemporary and fully responsive. Our very own CMS and inhouse frameworks power these projects.
You will have a choice of using a Windows, Mac or Linux machine and a choice of developments tools (such as Coda 2). You will also have access to Adobe Creative Suite to work with designed PSD files.

Who are you?
We see this role suiting an experienced front end developer who wants to take their career to the next stage. You should either have experience of, or have an understanding of people management.
You will need to know how to motivate your team to get the best out of them, whether this is praise, constructive feedback, identifying training needs or team building exercises.
You will also be someone who has a personal desire to obtain new knowledge, someone who codes in their spare time and wants to learn new tech. Bringing that knowledge to the business and offering alternative perspectives on our existing and upcoming products.
Great time management skills and the ability to work under pressure, during busy periods, along with the rest of the team is a must.
You should also be someone who is keen to pass on your knowledge to others, there are no islands in the company and we have an ethos of knowledge sharing across the business.

What are the key responsibilities of the role?
Managing the day to day activities of your team, ensuring projects flow through the
department.
Helping your team to develop their skills and knowledge.
Working alongside the design team to fully develop websites within our CMS based on signed-off designs.
Implementing animation that’s been provided by our animator either as Flash or with
HTML5 techniques (preferred).
Contributing ideas, discussing concepts to really bring our sites to life.
Testing and health checking websites across various browsers (IE7+) and devices (Windows,
iOS, Android etc).
Refining and perfecting built websites during the development stage based on team
feedback.
Coordinating with the Production Team to ensure projects are delivered on time to our
clients.
Promote new and existing process and shares best practices with the design team.
Be the lead in the hiring process and oversees training, set-up and development of new members of your team, making effective staffing decisions.
Conduct and ensure the completion of performance reviews.
