Working for a large manufacturing organisation you will involved in a hands on role working closely with design teams and engineers, supporting the development of new products and creating practical manufacturability solutions from ideas and designs.Responsible to the Model Shop manager the duties of the role are listed below:
Key Tasks / Accountabilities:
• Work to sketches and full engineering drawings as supplied by other departmental staff to produce prototype components in a variety of materials. • Manufacture Jogs and fixtures in line with process requirements and procedures. • Provide engineers with manufacturing data as to influence the design criteria i.e DFM, DFA. • Work to Model Shop internal procedures. • Responsible for the safe operation of machine tools located in the model shop. • Give input to design and attend project meetings when called upon. • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and tidiness within the department. • Working within the Health and Safety guidelines of the company. • Put forward ideas for improvements and opportunities. • Undertake other duties where necessary as identified by the department manager.

Person Specification:
Education and training • A recognised engineering apprenticeship (desirable) or • General engineering / machining qualification such as NVQ or equivalent (desirable)
Experience / Knowledge • At least 3 years experience of working in a tool room environment. • Using manufacturing methods to produce a variety of components using dimensional drawings. • Manufacturing of components from a variety of materials. • Knowledge of CNC / CAM / CAD (Desirable) • Knowledge of sheet metal and fabrication methods. • Understands the use and able to apply limits and fits, dimensional tolerances and geometric tolerances. • Knowledge of mould tool design and manufacture (desirable) • Working knowledge of BS888 8.
Skills: • In depth skills in workshop practices (turning, milling and grinding) • Good PC skills including Microsoft office programs. • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and or Pro Engineer (Desirable)
