Transport Planner – Alconbury – Perm - £23,000 - £24,000 pa – 12 hour shifts – Nights.
To provide a link between management, traffic office personnel and administration personnel to undertake the day to day planning issues, ensuring that movement of product from customers/suppliers is completed in a timely and cost effective manner.
Office based, transport experience required. 4 on 4 off rolling shift pattern (12 hour shifts) – Nights.
Responsible for the planning of all containers (and other loads as appropriate) Production of load plans Responsible for co-ordinating loads with dock sailing times Book containers on shipping lines Production of consignment notes using MS Office Word Liaison with driving personnel. Liaison with customers Liaison with Warehouse Personnel on site regarding storage/movement of product Responsible for entering delivery information on the new computerized system Liaison with the companies traffic office personnel Provide an efficient service regarding “restitution” of containers (ie. Turnaround time and minimize charging) Investigate and resolve any customer complaints or claims Responsible for the maintenance of the vehicle booking system (VBS) and any cost control measures Reports and analysis as appropriate for customer accounts Provide sickness and holiday cover for colleagues in the department to meet operational requirements.
All employees will be expected to operate the company Traffic Management System. Undertake any training required to fulfill the role in a competent and safe manner, as directed by the Company First Aider and Fire Marshall following training Any other duties as directed by the company for which you are suitably qualified
Experience of dock operations Experience of working within Transport/Traffic Office and vehicle planning Experience of Supermarket Distribution centres would be desireable but not essential Knowledge of Fresh Produce would be helpful Numerate and P.C. Literate Excellent Communications Skills Ability to work under pressure and “think on feet” as fast moving environment Flexible and reliable in approach to work CPC Holder (ideally)
Shift patterns will be rolling 4 on 4 off pattern as determined by the contract of employment A flexible approach to tasks is required as variable additional hours may need to be worked to meet operational needs. 22 Days holiday per annum
plus 8 statutory bank holidays for Monday to Friday pattern or 19 days for 4 on 4 off Contributory Pension after qualifying service – auto enrolment
